MY LONDON
THE CONCEPT.
I love architecture. It moves me and evokes emotion in me the same way art does, and it is a constant source of inspiration for my design practice.
I remember cities by the architecture that I discovered there. For me, London is the place where it all began; where I spent three years studying textile design, where I first discovered architecture as an influence on my design style and it’s the city I spend the most time in still now, being so close to my studio in Essex.
The concept behind ‘My London’ is to take you on a tour of this city that I love, around all my favourite places looking up at the buildings that inspired me to create this collection. I had the most fun working on every aspect of this project from the initial concept, through designing each piece, naming each design and styling the photo shoot. Hopefully, you will be able to see the shapes, lines and details of these buildings in the knits, purls and textured patterns that I love so much to create.
The Colour Palette.
The colour palette for this collection is something I spent a lot oF time tweaking and refining, I wanted a cohesive colour palette across the two yarns used; Alpaca Soft DK and Alpaca Classic, without them being completely identical. It was really important to me that thE palette included both simple tonal pairings and more bold colour combinations.
THE COLLECTION.
‘My London’ is a collection of modern wearable accessories from shawls to bobble hats and everything in between. I truly think there is something for everyone; simple textured patterns and more complex combinations of textures and cables, bold colour blocking and more pared back one colour pieces, big projects like ponchos and shawls as well as smaller projects like beanies and scarves. Whatever your style or knitting preference there’s something in ‘My London’ for you.
